New Delhi: A passenger travelling on Jet Airways to the US last week almost lost $10,000, equivalent to Rs 5 lakh, when he left his pouch containing the money at a counter near the immigration desk. Thankfully for him, a contractual loader working with the airline saw the pouch and actually went looking for him so that he could return his money.
Airline sources said that passenger Tayush Mukherji, travelling on Jet Airways 9W 548 from Delhi to Dubai and later to the US on another flight, was filling out his immigration form near counter D1 at terminal 3 and left behind his pouch when he went for clearance. However, loader Shiv Kumar, posted in the area that afternoon, saw the pouch and immediately reported the matter to security officials. "He was standing near the counters and realized the particular passenger had left behind his pouch. Shiv Lal then went with security officials to locate the passenger and finally found him near the immigration counters,'' said an airline spokesperson.
The airline initially felicitated him in front of senior airline management staff at the airport and awarded him with an appreciation letter, a citation and a cash award.
