A Chennai-bound Jet Airways flight, with 131 passengers on board, aborted take-off at 7 am following a bird-hit on the right engine at Mumbai airport on Tuesday.
Sources said, “The Boeing 737 had begun its take-off roll and had covered about 300 metres when a kite hit its right engine. The pilot decided to abort take-off and vacate the runway.”
Following the incident, the airport’s main runway was shut for 10 minutes for inspection and removal of bird remains. This delayed both departures and arrivals.
