Mangalore: Members of Mangalore air crash victims' families association staged a protest here on Tuesday September 14 against the inconsistencies in the payment of compensation to the victims' next of kin.
The protesters organised a march from Kenjar bus stop to the new integrated airport terminal where they expressed their ire at the airport authorities and Air India management, demanding transperancy as well as equality in the distribution of compensation. They also called for the withdrawal of user development fee which was recently enforced at the airport.
They accused Air India officials of insensitivity towards victims' families and alleged that they were biased when it came to dispensing the compensation.
The protesters submitted a memorandum to Mangalore Airport director M R Vasudeva Rao, in which they termed the user development fee a burden to the passengers.
