Bangalore: Even as the police are clueless about the destruction of the memorial erected for the Air India crash victims at Kenjar, the initial investigations point at two possibilities.
Police sources said the investigators suspect the involvement of some disgruntled people, who were expecting a fat cheque while compensation was provided to families of crash victims, to be behind the destruction.
The second possibility the police investigators were pondering over was that the land where the memorial stood belonged to a family which had a long-standing dispute over the partition and ownership of the land.
While some of the family members did not want the memorial to be erected at the site, elders in the family had convinced the other members to allow the memorial to be constructed there and they had also offered to sell the land where the ill-fated Air India plane had crashed.
But since Air India did not show any interest in buying the land, there could have been a disagreement among the family members about the legality of the memorial on their land.
