New Delhi: To cash in on the Mahatma's pop magnetism, Delhi Duty Free outlet at Terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport has laid out an array of Gandhi memorabilia priced between $ 5 (Rs 230) and $ 25 (Rs 1,150). To get the attention of visitors, Delhi Duty Free Services have put up a statue of the Mahatma borrowed from Gandhi Smriti outside their Discover India retail outlet.
Talking about the buzz around the Gandhi statute, Delhi Duty Free Services COO Arun Barathi said, "Many people have come to us asking whether the statue has been flown in from Madame Tussauds." Among the items on sale, it is the Gandhi mug that's got people excited. The absolute favourites, though, are the ahimsa notebooks. Made of fine paper, each page of the notebook has a message from Gandhi on top.
