New Delhi: Stung by the vicious attack over recent high-profile appointments of AI Express COO Pawan Arora and training chief Stefan Sukumar, the Air India management is preparing to fight back.
According to sources, chairman and MD Arvind Jadhav is firm in his opinion that Arora and Sukumar are qualified for their respective jobs and is expected to back this opinion with some facts at the upcoming board meeting on November 11.
Before that, he is expected to also try and convince the DGCA of Arora’s authenticity. “Pawan Arora has not applied for a pilot’s job, he has been appointed as the COO of the low cost arm. His role is as a business centre head and he is eminently qualified for the post. The issues DGCA has raised pertain to pilot and examiner license functions.....” sources added.
But will Jadhav be able to push through his agenda? The Air India board is already highly fragmented. The airline’s 15-member board comprises two government nominees, Jadhav, four independent directors and remaining functional directors.
