New Delhi: The unprecedented government drive to rein in galloping spot domestic fares will have a flip side for international passengers looking for garage-sale tickets offered by international airlines of some extremely wealthy or resource-rich countries, geographically close to India. Some foreign low-cost carriers and even full-service airlines based in countries within two to four flying hours distance from India keep offering fares of Rs 3-5,000.
Terming these as "predatory fares", the aviation ministry is likely to clamp down on these too just like the exorbitant spot prices offered by Indian airlines.
In fact in a first action of its kind earlier this year, the DGCA had issued notice to a Malaysian LCC for offering fares of Rs 3-5 ,000 to and from India.
