Thick fog hits flights at Kochi airport

Nedumbassery: The presence of heavy fog in the Kochi airport area resulted in the disruption of normal services on Thursday morning. At least six flights were diverted to other airports owing to poor visibility.
In the international sector, Doha-Cochin flight (9W555), Abu Dhabi-Cochin flight (WY221) and Dubai-Cochin (IX434) were diverted to Thiruvananthapuram.
Flight IX 452 Abu Dhabi-Cochin was diverted to Chennai.
Air India Express flight IX 394 Kuwait-Kochi-Kozhikode landed straight in Kozhikode airport.
In the domestic sector, two flights, Thiruvananthapuram-Kochi-Delhi was diverted to Chennai, and the Mumbai-Kochi to Thiruvananthapuram. The services limped back to normal after 9 a.m., CIAL sources said.
