Ahmedabad: For passengers of Indian Airlines Ahmedabad-Mumbai-Kuwait flight, it was a round trip to the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, without their consent. The flight which took off 90 minutes late from the international airport on Thursday evening was turned back from Mumbai airport late in the night. The flight with 71 passengers suffered this fate as the airport there was chock-a-block with aircraft.
A day later, the flight finally took off from Ahmedabad at 7.40 pm on Friday. Many passengers travelling to Mumbai by this flight were, however, accommodated in another flight on Friday morning. A passenger's relative from Udaipur said, "My brother works at a textile unit in Kuwait. After returning to Ahmedabad, he called me and said that as soon they saw lights of Mumbai airport, the flight captain announced that they don't have permission to land as there is no place to park the plane on runway. Many passengers fought with airline officials as they had appointments to meet in Kuwait," said Om Prakash Jaiswal.
