Mumbai: For the airline authorities it was just another piece of luggage. But a companion all through her musical journey, the harmonium meant a lot more to ghazal singer Priyanka Vaidya. Possibly even more than the Rs75,000 that Jet Airways will now pay her for manhandling her instrument during her journey from Mumbai to Goa.
The Mumbai District Suburban Consumer Disputes redressal Forum recently ordered the airlines to pay a compensation of Rs75,000 to the singer, including Rs25,000 for the cost of the instrument and Rs50,000 for the financial loss and mental harassment.
According to Vaidya’s complaint, she insisted on carrying the harmonium as hand baggage.
