Woman abuses customs staff over gold find

Dubai: A woman questioned about gold and mobile phones she was carrying at Mumbai International Airport hurled abuse and threw her jewellery at customs officials, according to media reports in India.
The woman, who has not been named, is reported to have become angry after she was confronted by customs on Thursday morning. The UAE national, who is believed to be 50 years old, threatened to commit suicide and demanded that the UAE consulate intervene.
Indian police were called and at one point customs officers considered arresting the woman, Indian media reported.
“She said she would consume all her sleeping pills if not let off soon,” an unnamed source was quoted as saying.
The woman also said her grandson was unwell and customs officials would be responsible if anything happened to the child.
Airport officials called a doctor when they became concerned for the child’s welfare.
