June sees rise in flight delays

Mumbai: Flyers have not got any respite from flight delays at Mumbai airport. Data published by Mumbai International Airport Pvt Ltd (MIAL) on flights delayed on more than 20% occasions they operated from the city airport, shows a rise in delays compared to May. As per the data, 347 flights were delayed once in five times they operated to or from Mumbai.
According to the data, 194 flights arriving in Mumbai were delayed in June on more than 20% occasions. Departures were better off, with 153 flights delayed. However, delays went up in June, compared to May, when 280 flights were delayed. Also, while delays in arrival flights went up by 14.11%, delayed departures rose by 39% in June. Of all airlines, Kingfisher reported most departure delays. Forty Kingfisher departures were delays on more than 20% occasions, followed by Air India (36) and Jet Airways (32). Most Jet flights arriving in Mumbai were delayed. As per the data, 53 Jet flights were delayed followed by Air India (42) and Kingfisher (41).
