Thiruvananthapuram: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has made photo identity cards issued by the Centre or the State government mandatory for all visitors at the new international terminal building of Thiruvananthapuram International Airport as part of strengthening the security, Airport Director G. Chandramouli has said.
Henceforth, visitors will also not be allowed to carry bags inside the terminal building. The decision is based on a directive issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.
G.S. Pandey, the Commandant of the elite Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel guarding the airport, has been transferred to the Hyderabad airport following a controversy over the off-loading of a Dubai-bound passenger on September 21.
Airport sources said the action followed Mr. Pandey's failure to submit a report to the Airport Director on the off-loading issue.
