New Delhi: A passenger onboard a Delhi-Lucknow JetLite flight was offloaded after he reportedly misbehaved with the cabin crew. The flight carrying Uttar Pradesh Governor BL Joshi was delayed by two hours as it took some time for the airlines security to control the passenger who was not only under the influence of alcohol, but was behaving in an offensive manner.
According to an Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport official, the JetLite flight was scheduled to depart at 2 pm from Terminal-3. When the pilot instructed the cabin crew to close the doors as he was ready for take off, one passenger, identified as Irfan Sheikh, misbehaved with a female staff. He was cautioned and asked to take his seat; he reportedly flew into a rage and started mouthing obscenities. Security personnel and the Sky Marshal who were inside the aircraft came to the rescue of the female cabin crew and the hoodlum was pinned down. Sky Marshals were present inside the aircraft as it had a VVIP on board.
Deputy Commissioner of Police IGI airport, RA Sanjeev, confirmed the incident and said the passenger in question was offloaded by the airlines staff and the matter was being looked into, though the airlines has not reported the incident to them. The aircraft finally took off at 4 pm after the issue was sorted out.
