Finnair starts campaign to collect funds for Indian children

New Delhi: Nordic carrier Finnair Thursday said it has launched the third edition of its "change for good campaign" on international flights for raising funds for implementing "clean water and environment" for children in India.
The programme, which is run in partnership with Unicef, has placed special emphasis on the importance of maintaining sanitation, hygiene and clean water.
The target area in Bihar "is one of the country's poorest and most densely populated areas", the airline said in a statement.
"The idea is that coins and notes of any currency and denomination can be placed for collection in the envelopes provided in aircraft seat pockets, then handed to cabin crew for collection," the airline said.
According to the statement, in the past two years, the project has helped about 224 schools which received new water outlets and toilets.
"Teachers have been trained to teach children to learn about the importance of washing their hands," the airline said.
