Patna: Thick fog cover continued to play havoc with air traffic over the state capital today. Though the haze was considerably lighter, fliers had to wait for hours before their flights finally took off.
The first flight was allowed to land at Jaiprakash Narayan International Airport at 1pm. At noon, the visibility was 1,200m, far lesser than the permitted 1,600m necessary for the operation of flights.
As a result, Jet Airways had to cancel two of its morning flights. JetLite S2 404 (Calcutta-Patna-Calcutta) and Jet Airways 9W 2513 (Ahmedabad-Indore-Luckhnow-Patna) did not operate.
Some flights were also diverted to other airports causing immense harassment to passengers.
GoAir flight 6E 248 (Delhi-Patina-Delhi), which had to be grounded at Patna yesterday because of dense fog, took off today at 11.30am.
It had a different number and route though. It was renamed 6E 339 and traced Lucknow-Mumbai-Bangalore-Calcutta-Patna-Lucknow-Bombay) route.
