AI Express to get new COO

New Delhi: Days after the civil aviation regulator's report expressing concerns about safety issues in Air India Express were made public, a game of musical chairs has started in Air India's low-cost arm.
The tussle is over who should be the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the airline.
While official orders were issued on January 4 for Mr Sunil Kishan to function as the COO replacing Mr S. Chandrakumar, the change is yet to be effected.
Officials sources told Business Line that Mr Kishan had sought time to join the new post due to family problems. “The airline decided that since Mr Kishan is the senior-most officer, he should be the COO of Express. He, however, has been unable to join due to family issues. If he is unable to join, the selection committee will take a view. Three people have already applied for the post,” a person familiar with the development told Business Line.
The eventual change of guard means that this will be the second time in less than one year that the top management of Air India Express has been shuffled around.
