DIAL unhappy over proposed hike in landing & parking fees

New Delhi: Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), the operator of Delhi airport, is disappointed over the fact that only a 280 per cent increase in parking and landing charges has been put up for consultation by the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA). The airport operator had applied for 774 per cent rise in such charges. AERA, however, feels the rise it has proposed takes into account all costs and investments.
“We are pleased that AERA has taken up the tariff hike issue, but at the same time we are also disappointed that the consultation paper talks of only 280 per cent hike. According to the agreement, this hike is due since 2009-11. Also, the charges at the airport have not seen an increase for the last 10 years,” said a senior DIAL executive, who did not want to be identified.
