It has been an unhappy New Year for employees of most domestic aviation sector airlines both in the public and private sector.
While Air India employees have not been paid any salary for November and December last year and are making do with getting only a small portion of their September and October salaries, Jet Airways has informed its employees that half of them will be paid by 7th while the rest will be paid by 15th.
Kingfisher Airline paid a section of its employees last Saturday but there are other sections, including pilots and engineers, who claim that they have not been paid since November last year.
Air India employees get paid a basic salary while another chunk is linked to the productive-linked incentive scheme.
What irks sections of Air India employees is that the PLI portion of the salary is being withheld when the airline is carrying around 30,000 passengers a day.
An increase in passenger carriage is one of the key components to decide on how much PLI each employee should get.
