Mid-air fit scares co-passengers

Kolkata: Around 3.45pm, IndiGo Airlines flight 6E 205 was preparing to land when Amolak Singh seated in seat 8B, began to suffer severe convulsions. "All of a sudden, he began to tremble violently and was frothing from the mouth," said a fellow passenger. who thought Singh would not survive the attack.
Alarmed by the passengers' cries, cabin crew rushed to the afflicted passenger's aid. By now, the captain had lowered the landing gear and the plane was fast approaching the landing strip at Kolkata airport.
Anxious passengers were crowding the aisle though the seatbelt sign was on the cabin crew located a doctor on board to attend to the situation and then began coaxing other passengers to return to their seats who had crowded around Singh.
We had to get the doctor seated next to the ailing passenger and get the other 178 passengers to settle down," a crew member said.
When the plane finally landed at 4pm. a couple of crew members were on their feet and not in their seats as they had to ensure that everyone else was calm.
After landing, the captain wanted to offload Singh who was booked on the next leg to Delhi. By then Singh had regained composure and refused to alight. When the captain immediately realised the situation was turning into a stalemate, he called for the doctor at the airport health unit to check the passenger. It was only after Singh was certified "fit-to-fly" was the deadlock resolved.
