Cargo uplift by Emirates from Kerala up

Kozhikode: Uplift of cargo by Emirates SkyCrago, the freight division of Emirates airline, from Kerala has shown an increase during the first ten months of the current year.
The airline carried over 15,000 tonnes of export cargo from the three airports in the State during the April 2011-January 2012 period, recording a growth of 5.80 per cent over the same period in the previous year. The increase in cargo movement was mainly due to a rise in the uplift perishables, according to Mr Keki Patel, Cargo Manager, India and Nepal.
The airline carried over 3,500 tonnes out of Kozhikode during the period. However, there was a marginal drop in uplifts from the airport in the wake of stiff competition for capacity beyond Dubai to destination cities.
