Birsa Munda Airport could soon be one flight short as Go Air has stopped accepting reservations for its Ranchi-Delhi morning flight scheduled for May 1 and later.
If Go Air suspends the Delhi flight, it would become the third airline after Kingfisher and JetLite to curtail services from the state capital in the last two months.
Not only is Go Air not accepting reservations for the Ranchi-Delhi flight, for the last 10 days the airline has also stopped taking calls of passengers wanting tickets for that particular service.
“Go Air is expected to indefinitely suspend its Ranchi-Delhi service from May 1. Lack of enough passengers is believed to be the reason behind the move,” said an official at Birsa Munda Airport, who did not wish to be named.
Go Air officials, meanwhile, refused to comment. “All that we can say is that tickets for operations on and after May 1 are not being issued. We are not in a position to say anything more than this,” said a Go Air official.
The flight, which is likely to be suspended, arrives at Birsa Munda Airport at 7.55am from Delhi and takes off for the national capital at 8.25am. The only other morning service to and from Delhi is an Air India flight which arrives from Delhi at 7.30am and departs at 8am.
