AAI to expand terminals in Allahabad, Kanpur, Gorakhpur

Lucknow The Airport Authority of India (AAI) will expand its terminal buildings at the airports of Kanpur, Allahabad and Gorakhpur to meet the increasing demand for flights to these cities.
The capacity of the existing terminal buildings at the airports, which are under the control of the Ministry of Defence, is inadequate for operation of large aircraft.
AAI chairman V P Agarwal on Friday said they had written to the MoD to provide land for developing the new terminals. “At present, only one flight operates from each of these airstrips daily,” said S Raheja, Member (Planning), AAI.
The authority is working on a plan to develop a third terminal building at Chaudhary Charan Singh (Amausi) Airport in Lucknow.
