Dabolim won’t be grounded: CM

Vasco: Dismissing any uncertainty over Dabolim airport, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday said Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh had agreed to transfer 2.5 acres of disputed land for the Dabolim airport’s expansion plans.
“The prime minister has in principle agreed to transfer this land to the Airport Authority of India. As this land was in dispute, both the Goa government and Indian Navy had staked claim to this land,” said Parrikar.
Parrikar made the statement after he was accompanied by officials of Airport Authority of India (AAI) and government officials to jointly inspect the Dabolim airport expansion work.
Allaying fears over the future of Dabolim airport, Parrikar said: "In the recent past, statements have been made that the fate of Dabolim airport hangs in balance. I will ensure and repeat it again that Dabolim airport will not be closed down.”
