South Delhi’s next link to IGI Airport set to bypass Mahipalpur bottleneck

New Delhi: To get past the traffic bottleneck at Mahipalpur, a nightmare for motorists headed to the Indira Gandhi International Airport from South Delhi, the Public Works Department (PWD) will construct a bypass to National Highway 8 from a spot near the Ryan International School in Vasant Kunj to Shiv Murti with a link to the Dwarka road.
This work will form Phase III of a plan for the alignment of the Mehrauli-Mahipalpur road which has been approved in principle by the office of the Lieutenant Governor.
Phase I of the project will involve widening the stretch from Andheria More to Aruna Asaf Ali Marg in Vasant Kunj. Final approval for implementation of this plan came in February this year from the UTTIPEC or the Unified Traffic and Transportation (Planning and Engineering) Centre.
