Landing soon at BIA: The world’s longest aircraft

Bangalore: The longest passenger aircraft in the world is all set to touch down at the Bengaluru International Airport (BIA).
The BIA will soon see the Boeing 747-800 rolling on the tarmac, as it has received the necessary clearance from the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the country’s civil aviation regulator.
“The Boeing 747-800 is a Code F aircraft, with a wing span slightly more than the Boeing 747-400 (Code E), and in terms of length it is the longest aircraft. Based on inputs provided by Boeing, the Bangalore International Airport Limited has done safety risk assessment for the B747-800 operations and, accordingly, has received the approval to permit regular operations of this type of aircraft from the DGCA,” airport officials told DNA.
