New Delhi: If you’re waiting for the annual airfare dip of 20-25% in July-September, think again. There would be no such respite this year, thanks to withdrawal of seat capacity from the market by Air India and Kingfisher Airlines. Experts see fares staying high even during these traditionally lean months. In May-June, fares rose 20-30% on an average.
“Many people postponed their business travel, as ticket prices shot up recently. Even though leisure travel demand will soften in the next three months, business travel demand is likely remain strong,” says Iqbal Mulla, president, Travel Agents Association of India. He adds even though fares for leisure destinations will be lower, for trunk business routes it won’t be cheaper.
