Trolleys fall short at Sahar airport

Mumbai: Passengers flying in at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport have been facing a peculiar problem lately. They don’t find trolleys to ferry their luggage outside.
On Friday morning when I landed at Mumbai airport, I saw people milling around the conveyor belt, bags in tow but no trolley in sight.
“The trolleys will be here in about 10 minutes,” a Mumbai airport official told the passengers. The 10 minutes turned into half an hour, which then crossed to a full hour.
More flights landed, more passengers came out, more baggage started piling across the terminal, yet there weren’t any trolleys around.
Restless passengers first enquired with the ground staff and then animated arguments broke out. “I have travelled 30 hours from San Francisco and am exhausted. After all that, are you telling me I have to keep waiting only because there aren’t any trolleys!” said an angry traveller.
