Ahmedabad's ATC official loses licence for allowing faulty landing

Ahmedabad: An official of the Air Traffic Control tower at the Sardar Vallabhbhai International Airport was taken to task after permission was given to an aircraft to land despite an operational jeep stationed at the other end of the runway.
Passengers of an Ahmedabad-bound Air India flight from Delhi had a narrow escape on July 2 after the flight carrying 54 people on board landed at the runway at Sardar Vallabhbhai International Airport even as a jeep was stationed at the other end of the runway. The incident is termed as runway incursion in aviation parlance — referring to any presence on the runway at the time of landing of an aircraft.
