Patna: An Air India flight from New Delhi could not land at 3.15 pm at the Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport on Friday. It landed at 5.16 pm.
According to airport sources, the Air India flight AI 408 hovered over Patna for about an hour and then was diverted to the Birsa Munda Airport, Ranchi. "The landing of the flight was impossible on the scheduled time due to heavy rain in the city. The pilot cannot hover around for long as it is wastage of fuel," said Arvind Dubey, director, Patna Airport. According to sources at the airport, landing of flights will become impossible if heavy rain lashes the city during monsoon.
