Airlines move court over threefold hike

New Delhi: Delhi International Airport Ltd's (Dial) threefold hike in the aeronautical tariff for IGI airport came under fire on Tuesday with airlines moving the Delhi High Court against the increase. The Federation of Indian Airlines (FIA) filed a plea claiming that the Airport Economic Regulatory Authority of India had unlawfully cleared Dial's 345-per cent tax hike without following basic norms.
The regulator on April 24 allowed Dial to raise the airport fees for Delhi Airport by 345 per cent for the next two years. It also approved a demand to levy a user development fee on all fliers, including those who arrive at airport.
