Bangalore: The Karnataka government on Wednesday decided to wait for another week before taking a decision to implement cloud seeding in the state.
After holding a meeting with agriculture minister Umesh V Katti, minor irrigation minister Govind Karjol, water resources minister Basavara Bommai and officials from the agriculture, revenue and water resources, chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda said that the government would take a call on implementing cloud seeding in a week's time, if rains continue to play truant. Meanwhile, he said that the government was consulting the scientists at the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune, for advice and guidance. The rains in Kodagu, Udupi, Shimoga and Uttar Kannada in the last two days has made the government hopeful and postpone the decision to harvest clouds. Earlier, on June 15, Gowda had announced that the government would conduct cloud seeding if rains continue to play truant for 15 days.
