Broken jar leaves Indigo Airlines in a pickle

Mumbai: There was high drama at the domestic terminal of the Mumbai airport on Wednesday after the baggage of some passengers travelling on a Lucknow-Mumbai Indigo flight was damaged because of oil leakage.
The culprit turned out to be a jar of pickle which broke sometime during the flight. The oil apparently soiled few bags that were placed next to it in the cargo area.
When contacted, a spokesperson from Indigo Airlines said that the baggage of only one passenger was soiled in the incident. “The airline on its part has offered the passenger a compensation of Rs 3,500 for a new bag and Rs 2,500 as laundry expenses to clean the oil-stained clothes,” the spokesperson said, adding, “The pickle jar must have broken when the baggage was in the cargo.”
