Mumbai: To prevent planes from getting hit by birds while landing or taking off, the state has asked the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to allow the authorities at Mumbai airport to trim the branches of 600 trees in the airport's vicinity.
While the airport authorities have recently got permission to trim around 300 trees located inside the periphery of the airport, the additional chief secretary (home) has written to the BMC to trim 600 trees outside the airport jurisdiction on a regular basis.
