Chennai: Customs officials in Chennai and Kuala Lumpur have seized more than 5,000 key chains filled with narcotics weighing around 14 kg and worth more than Rs3 crore during the last three weeks, according to sources in customs department.
Officials at Kuala Lumpur airport in Malaysia unlocked the activities of a Chennai drug smuggling gang when they seized 2,496 key chains filled with drugs a couple of days ago, while customs officials in Chennai had seized 2,551 drug-filled key chains booked for the Malaysian capital on October 15.
Each key chain pouch contained 3gm of crystal amphetamine, which is used as a party drug.
The key chains were packed in plastic bags inside cardboard boxes.
