Plan follows CAG rap, sharp fall in air traffic

New Delhi: Apart from ADF, Delhi levies an additional user development fee (UDF) in the range of Rs 195.80 to Rs 1,068 on each incoming and outgoing flyer. The charges make Delhi one of the world's costliest airports for passengers, not to mention for airlines, which have to shell out high landingparking charges.
"In order that the burden on passengers is reduced, the authority is proposing through this consultation paper to reduce the rate of ADF-... from January 1, 2013. The ministry is in agreement with this approach," says the consultation paper issued by AERA chief Yashwant Bhave on Wednesday. Comments have been invited from all stakeholders within a week so that a final decision is taken in time for the proposed January 1 date for reducing ADF. The government realized the "burden" on flyers when soaring airfares amid an economic slowdown led to the sharpest fall globally in domestic air travel in India.
