New Delhi: The city continued to shiver on Monday, with the minimum temperature at 2.4 degree Celsius, five degrees below normal. Dense fog and icy winds affected schedules of trains and over 100 flights at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA). Authorities were forced to close both operational runways early in the morning, when visibility dropped to near zero.
The maximum temperature on Monday was 13.4 degree Celsius, seven degrees below normal and up from Sunday’s 11.8 degree Celsius. Humidity levels oscillated between 55 and 100 per cent.
There were no operations and low visibility procedures implemented on runways 10/28 and 11/29. Low visibility procedure was implemented at 3.47 am on runway 10/28 and at 3 am on 11/29. These were terminated after visibility improved considerably at 11.35 am on both runways.
