Air India derosters 6 cabin crew over staff row

Mumbai: Taking a stern view of a protest launched by some of its cabin crew members, which has led to a few flight delays over the past week, Air India on Tuesday derostered six of the protesters. These permanent employees of the airline had refused to work with crew employed by the airline on a contract basis.
"For the past four days, AI had put up a notice against rostering these six cabin crew members. On Tuesday, they were derostered (removed from the roll)," said a source. An AI spokesperson said no cabin crew member who had been rostered refused flight duty on Tuesday. But he said he needed more time to confirm if the six flight attendants—one female and five males—had been derostered.
The issue began about a week ago, when every other day, a cabin crew member or two would report for flight duty only to lodge protests saying that they would not work on flights manned by the contract crew.
