Air India shuts down ticket call centre, leaves fliers at mercy of travel agents

New Delhi: After being taken for a ride by IndiGo, Air India has shut down its ticket call centre leaving passengers at the mercy of travel agents as no interim arrangement has been put in place.
The Air India call centre was till January 31 being managed by Gurgaon-based InterGlobe Technologies (IGT), a sister company of Interglobe Enterprises (IGE), which runs low-cost carrier IndiGo, the only profit-making Indian airline.
But the new company, US-headquartered Sutherland Global Services, a business process and technology management services company founded by Dilip Vellodi which was to start call centre operations for Air India from February 1, is still not functional.
