Anger at Dabolim: Fog delays flights, Navy restricts take-offs

Vasco/Panaji:  Two flights- one international and domestic-with around 400 passengers were delayed on Tuesday for over three hours at the Dabolim airport due to bad weather.
An Air India flight coming from Kuwait to Goa at 6.45am reached at 8.30am, while a Go Air flight from Bangalore to Goa to Mumbai which was to arrive at Dabolim at 7.45am came in at 8.30am.
As commercial flights cannot operate from 8.30am to 1pm during which time the Navy carries out its operations, the delayed flights could not take-off.
The civilian flights did not receive clearance to take off from the ATC, said Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida, who was one of the passengers on the Go Air flight. Almeida said he was travelling to Mumbai to attend a meeting and a funeral and managed to reach in time but some other passengers who had connecting flights were not so lucky.
Hundreds of passengers were inconvenienced and the anger of the fliers was visible at the airport.
