Baggage handling gets tech boost

Mumbai: Passengers travelling from Mumbai airport don’t need to worry anymore about their bags getting misplaced. Latest technology being put in place will make sure that the luggage gets into the same flight as the passenger and also can be tracked easily in an emergency even after checking it in. Last year, 1.41 crore bags were transported by all the airlines from Mumbai airport.
The Baggage Reconciliation System (BRS) is being installed to curb the incidents of fliers’ bags going missing and getting misplaced. Also, the integration and upgradation of BRS is in place which will help cut short the time required for a passenger to be present at the airport, before the departure of his flight, to a considerable extent.
