Baggage theft on flight: Write it off

New Delhi:  Classical dancer and heritage educator Navina Jafa has being running in circles, trying to get back her laptop which was allegedly stolen from her suitcase when she was travelling from New Delhi to Bhuj on February 15. Jafa had kept the laptop in her check-in baggage, placing it at the bottom of the bag for safety. Despite this, the thieves picked the lock and took it out, indicating they knew exactly what the bag contained.
"My spondylitis was acting up that day and I decided to keep my laptop in the suitcase. It was wrapped in a skirt and placed on top of some books. I had put my other clothes on top of that. The Jet Airways flight was from Delhi to Bhuj via Mumbai. It took off late from Delhi and we had only a 15-minute window at Mumbai to change planes. At night I checked my suitcase and saw the lock was missing. At that point I thought that I might have forgotten to lock the suitcase, but when I looked for my laptop, I realized that it had been taken out," she said.
