Broken wall of Juhu airport poses serious security threat

Mumbai:  A day before the twin blasts in Hyderabad, a mock drill at Juhu airport by security agencies found all safety apparatus in place but for the most important element: the boundary wall. The agencies found whole sections of the wall missing at several places and at other spots, slum dwellers had broken down portions of it.
"We had earlier requested the airport to repair the walls and remove the encroachments, considering the security threat they posed. considering the security threat they posed.
But our request fell on deaf ears and we have again sent a similar directive," a senior police officer said. Central intelligence agencies had recently alerted the city police about seven spots that had been surveyed by terror suspects; all those areas are in the western suburbs but the officer declined to disclose if Juhu airport was a target.
