Family of officers create IAF history

Vadodara:It was the perfect day for flying a clear, cloudless sky, with just the right breeze and sunshine. At the Vadodara Airforce station, a gleaming, steel-grey metallic bird with the Air Force insignia gleaming on its side, took off on a routine sortie, circling the Vadodara skies and touching down for a perfect landing after precisely 20 minutes. Few on the outside knew that a niche had just been created in the aviation history of the Indian Air Force (IAF) in the process.
With three generations of their family serving in the IAF, it was a special day for the Sodhi family. On Monday, the father and son team of Air Commodore R S Sodhi and Flight Lieutenant Angad Singh Sodhi flew together in an AN-32 while first generation Air Force officer, 85-year-old Wing Commander (retd) Bhupender Singh Sodhi watched from the ground.
