Regular flights long way off

Ludhiana:  Poor visibility may continue to hamper frequency of regular flights at the Sanhewal airport in the coming days, as it is going to take a few more months for the Doppler Very High Frequency Omni-Directional Range to be made operational.
The Air India test pilot will make a test landing at the Sahnewal airport to check the DVOR after which the director general, civil aviation, (DGCA) will order local authorities to make the device functional.
Till then, visibility requirement will continue to be 5km as compared to about 2.5km after the DVOR is made to work. Last month, the lone flier, Air India, could fly only twice as against the scheduled 13 flights, because of poor visibility and bad weather, while there have been no flights this month.
