Mumbai: The state is pushing hard to increase air connectivity between smaller towns in Maharashtra.
Months after attempting to lure airlines into increasing regional connectivity by assuring purchase of a fixed number of seats on each flight, the government is now toying with the idea of reducing airport fees and very little by way of surcharge on aviation fuel.
According to a new policy being drafted by the civil aviation ministry, Maharashtra – a leading industrial state in the country – is among states where regional connectivity will be under focus.
An official said that poor regional air connectivity in the state hinders rapid growth.
