Mumbai: The recent terror threats to the city have once again put Juhu airport under the security scanner. Juhu airport has been one of the most vulnerable aerodromes in the city.
Even though the airport handles about 100 helicopter movements daily, the security there has been negligible. Officials said that a slum has expanded into the airport and is within meters from the secondary runway. The hutment dwellers from the neighbourhood hop across to play or even sleep on the runway. Though a boundary wall is slowly being constructed, the progress has been really slow. The airport officials have also sought help from the local police to guard the premises.
