Ranchi airport in dire need of amenities

Kolkata:  Passengers at Ranchi airport want better facilities and civic amenities. The old airport is not in a good shape while the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has developed a new terminal building which is waiting for inauguration. Passengers claim that now that the new terminal building has been developed the AAI authority is less concerned about facilities at the old airport. The civil aviation cell of the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJalso receives complaints in this connection from time to time.
The situation is so severe that in some cases even wheel chairs are not available. A 70-year-old woman passenger, who arrived at Ranchi airport from Patna on Sunday, said, "I inquired for the wheel chair when I arrived here. But there was none to be found."
Ranchi airport director R R Kumar said, "Lack of coordination might have led to such a situation." Passengers who file their specifications in the forms always get wheelchairs and special treatment. "Such fliers are always treated carefully by the airlines," the director added.
