Vijayawada: Despite the twin terror blasts in Hyderabad last month, vital locations in Vijayawada are still bereft of adequate security systems.
The Gannavaram airport, for instance, does not have a single CCTV camera. Some of the cameras installed at the Pandit Nehru Bus Station are malfunctioning and some of them are even duds. The parcel section at the bus station lacks an x-ray scanner to screen suspicious materials. There are no CCTV cameras on the busy Besant road, the main shopping area in Vijayawada, which is visited by thousands of people every day.
Ssecurity at the famous pilgrim centre Indrakeeladri, which is visited by the thousands of devotees of Durga every day, does not have sufficient security personnel posted.
