Bhagalpur: The long-cherished demand of people for introduction of air-services from Bhagalpur is likely to get fulfilled with a private air-service operator Skyfisher Airways Limited agreeing to introduce air-services from May 15, 2013. The air circuit will be Patna-Bhagalpur-Gaya-Varanasi sector in the initial stage followed by other sectors including Kolkata and Bagdogra.
The proposal of Skyfisher Airways Limited has come in the backdrop of unending efforts of former civil aviation minister and present BJP MP from Bhagalpur Shahnawaz Hussain for introduction of air-services from here. Hussain had made vociferous demand for starting commercial air-services from Bhagalpur airport in view of the required airfield and basic infrastructure being available for initiating commercial air-services by small aircrafts.
